Let's be real. Writing doesn't have to be a headache. The right approach to writing with clarity and purpose can change everything, including students' test scores.

This session is all about turning the thinking students do while reading into effective writing. Educators will experience practical routines to develop writers who can express ideas clearly, support thinking with evidence, and craft responses that flow from start to finish. Whether responding to life, literature, or yes…even the STAAR test, this hands-on learning prioritizes doing the WRITE thing to help students move from "I understand what I read" to "I can communicate and develop that understanding through writing."

Together, we’ll examine the TEKS, analyze instruction, and study student evidence to identify learning needs and determine the most appropriate next steps.

This hands-on experience equips literacy teachers with the tools, strategies, and confidence to lead a multi-week STAAR review that targets high-priority skills necessary for student success. Through interactive modeling and collaborative planning, educators will dig into reading, writing, and revising tasks that actually stick. Walk or run away with a solid plan and ready-to-use resources to help every learner enter test day with confidence. Play with strategy - not stress.
